Come Follow Me for Individuals and Families
LDS, Mormon
I was hoping you can produce your podcasts a week ahead of schedule. I am sharing your lessons with every one I know. I would like to prepare with your lesson materials a week ahead of my lesson. I prepare lessons for the Washington County Purgatory inmates. Most are well versed and keep me on my toes. I like to share your podcast insights which they enjoy. I have been sharing Thomas Wayment’s book as well.
My wife and I are some of the first to download and watch your scholarly work. You say you’re not a scholar but I believe you are. What is your backyard? Education? FOO Family Of Origin? I listen to hours and hour of your podcasts.
Thanks again!
Troy Richardson
I plan on doing just that. Before I did the 8 consecutive day Easter series, I was a week ahead. That put me back, then a move and work. Now I have another podcast I am starting this week or next week. But yes, I am going to get back to that schedule as fast as I can. Maybe by next week.
My background is not laden with titles and degrees. Very simply, I had a Mission President, who was President Hinckley’s personal doctor, who was an incredible scriptorian. He got me started and I never really stopped. Most everything I come up with is primarily from studying the scriptures directly and finding parallels, then reading good books voraciously. I started with church books, Nibley, etc., then went from there. I don’t even have a college degree. Got married while at BYU then had our first kid and decided I needed to start making money to support them. So I am self-taught. In some ways, I believe that gives me a fresh look. Academics have become very ‘boxed in’ and are dependent greatly on the latest philosophy, i.e., post-modernism. So that is why I probably sound different than others. I have studied ancient religion and history, mysticism, Judaism, Hebrew, Latin, Old English and philosophy and Egyptology, but all self-taught. I have studied Middle-Eastern history including Egyptian, Sumerian, Babylonian, Canaanite, Hittite, Aramite, Mari, and Phoenician. I have also studied many of the non-canonical books of scripture that add some depth. Of course, all needs to fit under our doctrine. I am not an expert on any of these things. But I am able to put things together because of the breadth of my study.
I will get ahead on the podcast soon. Thank you for being a long-time, loyal listeners!
